IWP Foundation Repair Utilizes ECP Products for New Elevator Shaft

Today, we are taking a look at a job completed by IWP Foundation Repairs out of Wichita, Kansas. For this job, IWP had the privilege of working on a new elevator shaft for the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. IWP Foundation Repair professionals coupled their know-how with the expertise of structural engineers to complete this amazing project.

In this featured job, IWP Foundation Repair installs and elevator shaft in a VA Hospital.

Push Piers

Before any new work could be completed, the existing foundation had to be reinforced. ECP push piers were installed in order to provide the added strength the existing foundation needed. By evenly spacing the push piers throughout the shaft area, the load is evenly distributed. ECP push piers are widely used due to their high load capacity as well as their ability to pass through obstructions in the earth. Now, this new elevator shaft has the additional support it needs so it can be built upon!

Helical Tiebacks Stabilize the Soil

In order to build the new elevator shaft, several steps were completed. One very important step was to use helical tiebacks to stabilize the soil surrounding the area of the shaft. Helical tiebacks are the preferred choice due to their strength and ease of installation, and in the case of an elevator shaft, strength is of the utmost importance! These tiebacks boast little to no vibration, as well as immediate load transfer upon installation.

Shotlock Seals the Concrete Wall

The final step in the process of creating the new elevator shaft was the addition of Shotlock to the concrete walls. Shotlock is a fiber-reinforced concrete material that is used to reinforce wall surfaces. It is conveyed on to the wall using a hose and when it is set provides that last level of support that the walls needs to complete the job.

In the End, a Beautiful New Elevator Shaft

With all the work complete the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center has a safe, sturdy, beautiful new elevator shaft. Thanks to the collaboration of IWP Foundation Repair, the structural engineers, and innovative ECP products, this shaft will be safe and functional for years and years to come.
